Adam Rice

Principal Design Engineer

Adam brings over 13 years of experience leading teams, managing construction and operations, and designing process systems. Before joining Blue Energy, Adam worked as an independent consultant serving the carbon capture, upstream, midstream, and power sectors. His background spans engineering, construction management, operations, and innovation from leading large energy-sector teams to overseeing the manufacturing of the linear motor for Hyperloop One. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.

Adam Smith

Principal - Commercial and Business Development

Prior to joining Blue Energy, Adam worked on the commercial team at Last Energy and the renewable energy project finance team at Fifth Third Bank. Adam has bachelor's degrees in Economics and Finance from the University of Kansas and a Master's in Finance from the the University of Rochester.

Alex Chereskin

Senior Licensing Engineer

Alex joined Blue Energy after over 10 years with the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He held several roles at the NRC including most recently as a technical reviewer for non-light water reactor designs, as well as in license renewal and aging management. Prior to joining the NRC, he spent almost 4 years at PPL in support of engineering and licensing the Bell Bend Project, which was an effort to build a new large PWR. Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s of engineering degree in energy systems engineering from Lehigh University. He lives in Washington, DC, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two little boys. In his free time Alex is an avid gardener and also enjoys cooking and running.

Andy Kiss

Director of Business Development

Andy Kiss brings more than 20 years of experience delivering innovative power and infrastructure solutions to utilities, hyperscalers, and investors across North America. He has led the structuring and execution of large-scale generation, load supply, and risk management transactions across nuclear, natural gas, hydro, wind, solar, and storage assets. Known for aligning generation with complex load requirements, Andy integrates commercial, regulatory, market, and development strategy, ensuring projects are technically viable, financeable, and responsive to customer and investor needs.

At BrightNight and Hull Street Energy, Andy originated and restructured power purchase agreements and developed hydro, solar, and storage solutions for utilities and large customers across both RTOs and vertically integrated markets. These roles reinforced his track record of delivering innovative, financeable transactions that balanced customer requirements with market and regulatory realities. Earlier in his career at Constellation Energy, Andy was a key member of the wholesale commercial team within one of the nation’s largest generation and supply businesses. He originated dozens of wholesale supply and generation purchase agreements, structured bespoke hedging products to manage commodity and operational risks.

Andy holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and a B.S. in Economics from Kent State University.

Antonios M. Zoulis

Director of Licensing

Antonios Zoulis has more than 30 years of commercial and regulatory nuclear experience. At Blue Energy, he supports licensing activities in close coordination with the Vice President of Regulatory to advance the successful licensing, construction, and operation of small modular reactors (SMRs) in the United States and internationally. He leads the development of key NRC Topical Reports, manages licensing staff in preparing and submitting construction permit and operating license applications, and works cross-functionally with engineering and business development teams to deliver integrated, practical regulatory and technical solutions.

Previously, Antonios held senior leadership roles at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), including Acting Deputy Director of Reactor Oversight and Branch Chief of Oversight in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. In these roles, he supported the Reactor Oversight Process and advanced risk-informed regulation. He played a central role in the NRC’s response to the Fukushima Daiichi accident, serving both at headquarters and with the U.S. team at the Embassy in Tokyo. He also served as NRC liaison to the Department of Homeland Security, where he focused on the transportation and security of nuclear and radiological materials. Throughout his NRC tenure, he led high-visibility initiatives and engaged with the Commission, the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS), the Executive Director for Operations (EDO), and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI).

Antonios’s industry experience includes supporting plant outages, participating in INPO Working Groups and Evaluations, and developing and maintaining PWR and BWR PRA models for use in online risk monitors (EOOS and Safety Monitor) and licensing activities. He also led a fleet-wide Equipment Reliability peer group to standardize and improve reliability programs and processes across multiple sites.

He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, and an MBA from Pace University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland.

Callan Low

Callan Low is a seasoned technical recruiter with deep expertise across the energy and technology sectors. As Lead Technical Recruiter at Blue Energy, he is responsible for attracting top-tier talent across engineering, R&D, scientific innovation, commercial and more - helping to build a world-class team committed to advancing transformative nuclear solutions for a sustainable, energy-efficient future. Prior to joining Blue Energy, he worked in engineering recruitment, with a particular focus on the nuclear energy sector. During that time, he forged relationships with many of the leading nuclear companies in the United States, working alongside key executives in the organizations to meet specialized staffing requirements. Before his career in recruitment, Callan was an international basketball player for Scotland & Great Britain, with highlights that included participating in several European Championships & the Commonwealth Games in Australia. He earned a full scholarship to play collegiate basketball at Newberry College and Westcliff University, where he completed a B.A. in Business Administration.

Camille Rodriguez

Senior Developer

Since earning her Master of Environmental Management with a concentration in Energy from Duke University, Camille has dedicated her career to turning clean energy projects from concept into reality. She began at Avantus, developing utility-scale solar and storage projects in the CAISO market, and spent the past three years at Savion advancing solar and standalone storage projects across NYISO. Her development work has spanned the full project lifecycle, including land acquisition, interconnection, local and state-level permitting, political relationship building, and offtake negotiations. More recently, she has focused on shaping Savion’s data center development strategy, which has further fueled her drive to advance SMR technologies.

Camille is thrilled to pivot into the advanced nuclear space, tackling new development challenges and helping move projects from planning to operation. She is passionate about delivering scalable, firm power solutions and looks forward to meeting and collaborating with every member of the Blue Energy team to accelerate the deployment of SMRs.

Carl Moore

Director of Plant Operations

Carl Moore is an accomplished nuclear professional with over three decades of experience in nuclear power plant operations, engineering, license examinations / training, and regulatory compliance. Carl holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Iowa and was a licensed Senior Reactor Operator on both the Braidwood and Barakah nuclear power plants.

Throughout Carl’s career, he’s led critical teams at major nuclear facilities, including the Braidwood, Barakah, and South Texas Project Nuclear Power Plants. He managed main control room operations at both Braidwood and Barakah where he was responsible for all aspects of safe plant operation. Carl has also served with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, contributing to international accident response following the Fukushima accident and overseeing operator licensing examinations and exam development projects.

Known for effective leadership, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to nuclear safety, Carl has managed multilingual, multicultural diverse teams, executed complex plant evolutions during the initial power ascension testing at Barakah, and driven continuous improvement in nuclear power plant operations.

Outside of work Carl enjoys exercising, baseball, traveling and spending time with his family.

Carolyn Coyle

Carolyn has over a decade of experience designing and modeling thermal systems across a range of applications. Prior to joining Blue Energy, she worked in the aerospace and defense industries at The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. Carolyn holds a PhD in Nuclear Science & Engineering as well as a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

Charles Cole

Senior Design Engineer

Charlie Cole is a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong passion for nuclear energy. He has an extensive background in systems engineering, mechanical design, and supply chain optimization. He graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.A. in Religion, both with honors. While studying, his focus was on operations research and optimizing infrastructure for food, water, and energy. For his senior thesis, he designed and built a pilot scale anaerobic digester using food waste from the college dining hall to produce useful energy.

The bulk of his professional experience has been in the nuclear industry, particularly with modular, light water reactors using steam Rankine power cycles. He has worked on the design, integration, and validation of mechanical components and assemblies supporting both the nuclear island and balance of plant for small modular reactors. He has produced numerous calculation reports, including some employed in regulatory engagement. His design priorities include modularity, factory fabrication, and ease of deployment through robust, proven supply chains. He also worked as a contractor for the EPA on the ENERGY STAR program for commercial building energy efficiency, where he developed performance metrics and energy models for HVAC systems in offices, multifamily housing, and more.

Charlie Bowser

Charlie Bowser

SVP of Engineering

Charlie has more than 30 years of experience in engineering, operations, finance, project development, and project execution in nuclear, renewables, and CCUS and is well versed in creating clean energy strategies and building businesses and partnerships that enhance decarbonization and ESG efforts.

Prior to joining Blue Energy, Charlie served as Director of Decarbonization at Lummus Consultants, where he completed the independent engineering assessment for the DOE LPO on the Palisades nuclear plant restart. 

Previously, Charlie was President at NET Power, where he oversaw engineering, construction, and commissioning of a first-of-a-kind CO2/oxy-combustion plant.  Before that, Charlie was Managing Director at Exelon, serving in various engineering and finance roles in Exelon Nuclear, Exelon Renewables, Generation Development, and Exelon Power. Charlie served as a Nuclear Submarine Officer in the US Navy.

Charlie has a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA in Corporate Finance from Cornell University.

Charmaine Vistan

Office Manager

Charmaine Vistan is an operations and program management professional passionate about building efficient systems, improving processes, and keeping fast-moving teams running smoothly. Charmaine built her career across various industries and that path has taken her from the hands-on challenges of private-sector operations to the fast-paced world of USAID program management and deployments. A natural organizer and problem-solver, she brings clarity, structure and reliability wherever she goes. Charmaine is someone who finds joy in nurturing others, whether she’s building better systems at work, solving problems before they grow, or connecting with people through food to make their day brighter.

Charmaine loves animals—big and small—, enjoys spending time gardening, loves to read, watch movies but is happiest in the kitchen. She loves cooking, sharing food with others, and she brings the same warmth and service-minded approach to every team she joins. She lives in Washington, DC with her daughter, two rabbits and two guinea pigs.

CJ Fong

CJ Fong

VP of Regulatory

Prior to joining Blue Energy, CJ served over two decades at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, most recently as the Chief of Staff to Commissioner David A. Wright.  Prior to that, he held managerial and senior technical roles in the areas of licensing, inspection, and policy, including Branch Chief for PRA Oversight, Team Leader for Risk-Informed Licensing, and Senior Construction Inspector.  From 2020-2022, CJ was assigned to the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) in Paris, where he served as Deputy Director of the Nuclear Safety Division and led a multi-year reform effort that improved efficiency and cooperation among the NEA’s 36 member countries.

CJ is a licensed professional engineer and holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He has authored or co-authored seven papers on probabilistic risk assessment and was interviewed by the Washington Post for his perspectives on nuclear safety.  He and his wife, Elizabeth, enjoy sports, cooking, and traveling.  They have three children and live in Silver Spring, Maryland.      

Cody Jacobucci

Chief of Staff & Founding Engineer

Cody Jacobucci is the Chief of Staff and a Founding Engineer at Blue Energy. Prior to Blue Energy, Cody spent nearly a decade designing and optimizing next-generation autonomous aircraft across SpaceX, Aurora Flight Sciences, and Boeing before venturing into early stage company building as an engineer, consultant, and investment analyst. He brings deep experience at the intersection of complex systems engineering, tough tech investing, and early team building.

Cody holds two degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT and an honorary degree from the University of Cambridge as an MIT-Cambridge Fellow. His research has spanned decentralized power generation from agricultural waste in rural India through the prestigious Tata Fellowship, and thermal energy storage, atmospheric water harvesting, and carbon capture technologies under the guidance of Prof. Evelyn Wang at MIT’s Device Research Lab.

Cody joined Blue Energy with the conviction that enabling an energy-abundant future is one of the most important and meaningful challenges of our time—and that there's no better group of people to build it with. Outside of work, Cody enjoys training for mid and long-distance races, cooking for his family, volunteering with his church's youth group, and running around outside with his two daughters and wife.  If you want a big bowl of pasta, or to work at Blue Energy, send him a note!

David Gennardo

Senior Licensing Engineer

Prior to joining Blue Energy, David worked for over 5 years at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission where he served as a Reliability and Risk Analyst and Technical Reviewer in the in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. His primary responsibilities included the review of risk-informed licensing applications and supporting the development and implementation of guidance related to the use of probabilistic risk assessment and associated analyses in regulatory decisionmaking.

David previously worked for 10 years at Sargent & Lundy, L.L.C., most recently as a Senior Project Engineer in the Nuclear Technology and Regulations Group. He served as a licensing specialist, qualified 50.59 reviewer, and subject matter expert  for projects associated with the treatment of multiple spurious operations and risk-informed applications at U.S. nuclear power plants, including for small modular reactors.

David received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois.

Ed Miller

Director of Environment and Permitting

Edward Miller is an experienced Environment & Sustainability Manager and Licensed Professional Civil Engineer with over two decades of experience, heavily focused on corporate environmental management, environmental assessments, and power plant development projects. He is recognized for successfully managing technical teams and achieving client/corporate objectives across various environmental and site development projects. A core part of his expertise is the Federal NEPA process, having successfully managed the approval of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 project and the Annova LNG project. His professional licenses include being a Professional Civil Engineer in Delaware, Maryland, and Texas.

Mr. Miller's experience in the nuclear sector is extensive and global. He served as the Head of Environmental Management, Compliance, & Sustainability for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Project in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In this critical role, he managed a high-performing, multicultural team of environmental professionals, covering permitting, regulatory compliance, air quality, ecology, waste management, and sustainability. His key accomplishments at Barakah included the development and implementation of the ISO 14001 compliant Environmental Management System (EMS), the development of a sea turtle rescue program, and managing the environmental compliance system for the facility. Furthermore, he successfully negotiated the conditions of the environmental operating permit for the facility with the environmental regulator. While at Constellation Energy, Mr. Miller played a pivotal role in the nuclear division. He served as the Environmental Program Manager for the UniStar Calvert Cliffs Unit 3 EPR project—a new build nuclear power plant—where he was responsible for managing teams to develop all required environmental studies, surveys, plans, and permit applications as part of the state and local permits, as well as the NRC NEPA process. All regulatory approvals for this major project were successfully received on schedule. Additionally, he was the Fleet Environmental Manager for the Constellation Energy Nuclear Group (CENG), an EDF/Exelon joint venture, managing the environmental program for 5 nuclear units at three sites (RE Ginna, Nine Mile Point, and Calvert Cliffs).

He has a foundational background in environmental assessments, environmental program management, and environmental compliance, which have been essential to his success in this highly regulated industry.

Jack Astbury

Chief Design Engineer

Jack builds high-performing multidisciplinary teams, mentors the next generation of engineers, and fosters engineering rigor and innovation. His strengths include systems-level architecture, risk-based decision making, and translating intelligent concepts into deliverable hardware. He is committed to advancing safe, reliable, certifiable and high-impact nuclear technologies that meet real-world operational demands.

Prior to joining Blue Energy, Jack accumulated more than 15 years of experience in the nuclear propulsion, aerospace and advanced nuclear sectors. With a background specialism in nuclear engineering - neutronics and radiation shielding, at BAE Systems he was part of the design team for the PWR3 on the Dreadnaught-class submarine program. He then designed and tested electronic equipment for communication satellites at Airbus Defence & Space. Over the past few years, he has held roles as Head of Neutronics, Technology Manager, and Chief Engineer at Tokamak Energy - a major UK fusion start-up.

Jake Bograd-Denton

Advisor, Operations and Finance

Jake advises Blue Energy on operations and finance, bringing over 10 years of executive leadership experience. At Two Sigma, Jake serves as a VP of Product for a substantial portion of the systematic equities business, directing strategic initiatives across research and engineering organizations. Previously, Jake served as Head of Product at Flex, building and leading teams responsible for core product development, risk and compliance. His experience includes product leadership roles at Instagram and Yelp, where he oversaw development while helping advance operational processes. Jake's background in financial systems, operational scaling, and organizational design in regulated environments provides Blue Energy with valuable expertise. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Molecular Biology from MIT, with distinctions from Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Society and Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society.

Jake Jurewicz

Jake Jurewicz

CEO & Co-founder

Jake has over 10 years of experience building, investing in, and advising companies in the energy, climate, security, and construction sectors. He previously co-founded Entropy Power, a developer of behind-the-meter co-located industrial loads at wholesale generators and served as Head of Transition Risk and Strategic Projects at Cervest, a UK startup focused delivering high granularity climate risk analysis to real estate and infrastructure.

Previously, Jake served on the corporate strategy team at Exelon Corporation, leading projects in R&D, strategic planning, and venture capital across the categories of nuclear, solar, hydrogen, energy storage, and distributed energy resources. Prior to Exelon, Jake worked in the nuclear security sector, pursued research in nuclear fusion, and apprenticed as a construction draftsman. Jake holds a Masters in Nuclear Science & Engineering as well as a dual bachelors in physics and nuclear science & engineering from MIT.

Jared Conway

Senior Nuclear and Mechanical Engineer

Jared Conway is a Senior Nuclear and Mechanical Engineer at Blue Energy, where he leads design and engineering initiatives across the entire plant including the nuclear steam supply system, radioactive waste system, power conversion system, and the security infrastructure. A distinguished MIT graduate with a degree in Nuclear Science and Engineering and a minor in Computer Science, Jared earned the prestigious Roy Axford Award for academic excellence in the nuclear department. His technical expertise is complemented by rigorous training and operational experience in the US Navy's Nuclear program.

Prior to joining Blue Energy in September 2024, Jared served with distinction as a submarine officer aboard the USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735) Blue Crew, where he held multiple critical roles including Main Propulsion Assistant, Damage Control Assistant, Assistant Engineer, and Quality Assurance Officer. His exceptional leadership and technical proficiency earned him two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and recognition as Junior Officer of the Year in 2023. Jared also contributed to his vessel's attainment of the Battle "E" and Weapons "W" awards in 2022, recognizing excellence in warfighting, ship navigation, and weapons handling—experience that now informs his innovative and decisive approach to nuclear energy development in the civilian sector.

Jared lives in Edinburgh, Scotland where he works with the Scotland-based engineering team for Blue Energy. His favorite hobbies are cooking intricate meals with his wife, reading a book and drinking coffee on the porch in the morning, or going on long, challenging hikes.

Juan Carlos Puente

Head of Finance

Juan Carlos Puente brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in the energy sector, spanning Renewables, Oil & Gas, and Chemicals, underpinned by a robust foundation in banking and consultancy.

He has held multiple senior finance roles at Shell plc, beginning in 2002 with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas business in Spain. From 2010 to 2014, Juan Carlos led the financial strategy for Shell’s Global Solvents and Phenol businesses, delivering a 35% increase in EBITDA. In 2014, Juan Carlos and his family relocated to the United States. As Project Finance Manager for Pennsylvania Chemicals, he successfully managed financial operations through the COVID-19 pandemic during the construction of the large-scale chemical facility near Pittsburgh. From 2022 to 2025, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, where he oversaw the company’s transformation from a start-up into a mid-sized enterprise poised to develop and operate utility-scale renewable energy projects. He led the formulation of strategic and funding plans exceeding $5 billion in debt financing.

Juan Carlos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and both a Master’s in Economics and an MBA from Pompeu Fabra University in Spain. During his tenure at Shell, he completed several leadership and finance programs, including the Executive Development Program at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2022. Juan Carlos and his wife, Ines, are proud parents of twin sons, now young adults. He enjoys cooking, traveling, and practicing CrossFit.

Julie Le Négaret

Julie Le Négaret

Design Engineer

Julie Le Négaret is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and holds a First-Class Honours degree in Mechanical Design Engineering from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), awarded in 2019. Since graduating, she has accumulated six years of experience in the energy sector, working on the development of energy storage technologies including gravity storage, hydrogen storage, and offshore renewables. At Gravitricity, Julie contributed to the design and delivery of a 250kW gravity energy demonstrator, for which she won the 2023 Scottish Renewable Innovator Award. She also led the technical planning of a underground hydrogen storage project, she was responsible for developing the technological roadmap and coordinating with academic and industrial partners. While at Mocean, she contributed to the design and manufacturing storyboarding of a first-of-a-kind wave energy converter, and supported decommissioning operations and inspection planning of the demonstrator, Blue X.

Kerry Furlong

Lee Laurendeau

VP of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Procurement

Prior to joining Blue Energy, Lee served as the CEO of American Offshore Structures at EEW Group, focusing on building the offshore wind industry in the US. Previously, Laurendeau served as Director of Operations at Holtec International, where he was responsible for the design, construction and fit out of Holtec’s new technology center recently constructed in Camden, NJ. He also served as the Director Business Development – Renewable Energy and Battery Storage at Johnson Controls, where he developed multi-million dollar energy projects with the military, government, colleges, hospitals throughout the Northeast. In addition to his work with Johnson Controls, he was also the Founder and CEO of PV Design Associates which was acquired by Johnson Controls in 2011.

Laurnedeau received his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and his Master’s in Engineering Management from NJIT. He is a graduate of GE’s Manufacturing Management Program and received a Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Villanova University.
